Designer cat collars
There are many things that you can learn about people by watching how they interact with their pets. There seems to be
two types of pet owners. Ones that have an animal because another member of the family wants it or because they feel that it is the thing to do
and then there are the pet owners that consider the pet as part of the family. This second group of people can further be divided into two
groups. Those that treat their pets as a member of the family, but still an animal, and those that treat their pet’s as if they were people. This
last group is the most interesting to observe.
In our neighborhood we have several average families and then there are some very wealthy people. We live by a lake so
this creates an interesting neighborhood of a mix of high-end properties and converted cabins. One of our wealthy neighbors has several cats. Two
of the cats are pure bred and the other three are common domesticated cats. All of the cats wear designer cat collars. They also
wear sweaters in the winter to insure that they do not get cold. The cats spend some time each day outdoors in a special exercise area that was
built next to the back door of the house. This area faces our kitchen window. There are many afternoons as I am preparing dinner that I get to
see the fashion show of what the best dressed cat is wearing this season.
These cats are very social and pleasant to be around. They will approach you and allow you to pet them and pick them up.
One day I had to go over to the fenced area to see the designer cat collars that they were wearing. I noticed the designer cat collars because
the sun was glinting off them as the cats were playing on their exercise equipment.
As I neared the fenced area I noticed that all the cats were supporting new designer cat collars. Upon closer inspection
I realized that the glinting I was seeing was from rhinestones that were encrusted on the designer cat collars. The neighbor noticed me out by
the fence and came outside. I explained to her that the sparkling jewels on the collars of the cats had caught my attention as I was preparing
dinner. She was very pleased that I noticed the new designer cat collars. They had just arrived this afternoon. She ordered them through a
special pet catalog. Each collar had a small gold tag that had the cat’s name engraved. I told my neighbor that my cat would definitely be
jealous of her well accessorized cats.
